Director of Student Services

Mars University — Los Angeles, CA (Remote)

Volunteer-based (initially)
Up to $15,000 per summer/fall (Part time)

Mars University (MarsU) is an early-stage academic and research institution that is offering higher education services. Our mission to unite students, researchers, and professionals in a multidisciplinary curriculum, to settle humans on planet Mars. MarsU plans to design and administer our first annual Mars summer program at a host site or university to begin in July 2021.

 

The Director of Student Services oversees the application, recruitment, and enrollment process. The Director maintains communication with interested and accepted student applicants and designs and recommends improvements to the application process. As a member of the Founding team, the Director is a key team player who helps harmonize enrollment goals with student projections.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and manage the admissions and enrollment process

  • Actively recruit, engage candidates; build & update, Potential Student Database

  • Develop corporate relations with potential Sponsors

  • Collaborate with Founding Team to provide student scholarships

  • Co-design and oversee admissions committee

  • Provide a detailed monthly briefing, presentation, and updates to Founding team

  • Devise evaluation strategies to monitor performance & determine improvements

  • Assist with selection and maintain communication with host site and University

  • Co-organize, design and manage events (banquet, conference, etc.)

  • Create, develop, and present an Admissions schedule with goals and deadlines 

  • Initiate, co-organize, and arrange local internship/shadow opportunities for students

 

Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in business, education, communication, English or a relevant field; Masters is a plus

  • Proven experience as program director or other managerial position

  • Thorough understanding of project/program management techniques and methods

  • Working knowledge of MS office products and program management software

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills

  • Knowledgeable about Mars, space, education, academia structure, nonprofits,
