Mars University (MarsU) is an early stage academic and research institution that is offering higher education services. Our mission to unite students, researchers, and professionals in a multidisciplinary curriculum, to settle humans on planet Mars. MarsU plans to design and administer our first annual Mars summer program at a host site or university to begin in mid-June 2021.

The Director of Programs is responsible for initiating, organizing, and implementing the Program schedule and activities during the five-week Mars Summer Program. Effort contributed is roughly estimated to be around or less than six months of work. As a crucial component of the Founding team, the Director collaborates with core faculty and oversees the day to day operations of the Summer Program.

Responsibilities

Assist with selection and maintain communication with host site as the primary point of contact

Co-develop drafts of the Mars Summer Program curriculum, course catalog, and detailed courses

Co-lead the selection, engagement, and scheduling of guest lecturers

Create, develop, and present a Program schedule with goals and deadlines

Ensure program operations and activities adhere to legal guidelines and policies

Co-lead marketing efforts and creation of deliverables for potential students

Create, extend invitations, and manage the student group chat

Provide a detailed monthly briefing, presentation, and updates to Founding team

Co-organize, design and manage events (gala dinner, conference, etc.)

Supervise and recruit committees and organizing teams as necessary

Skills
-
Bachelor's degree in communication, education, business,management or a relevant field; Masters is a plus
-
3+ years of proven experience as a program director or other managerial position

Thorough understanding of project/program management techniques and methods
-
Excellent organizational, communication, leadership, and public speaking skills
-
Knowledgeable about Mars, space, education, academia structure, and nonprofits
